Recycling of the end of life vehicles in the Netherlands and the upcoming challenges

A presentation by Barend Ubbink, Quality Assurance at ARN Auto Recycling. Great to work together with the whole end-of-life vehicle recycling chain that’s achieve a recyclingperformance of 98,4 % in 2019. Recycling is a team effort, we need to do this together!

Audience will learn more about the Dutch ELV recycling system, What the driving force are behind the Dutch recycling system and which upcoming challenges we think will come to us.

Question 2: What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
The developments on electrical vehicles and the use of lightweight materials in the car design.

Question 3: What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
Increase of range and decrease in charging time.

Question 4: What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
Sustainable raw materials like Cobalt, Lithium and Manganese.

About ARN
ARN is an organisation that takes over the producer responsibility and manages the recycling of end-of-life vehicles in the Netherlands. ARN was founded in 1995 as ‘Auto Recycling Nederland’ by the Dutch automobile industry and has four stakeholders: BOVAG, FOCWA, RAI Vereniging and Stiba.
